These are questions people really ask when they shop for a mattress. I've answered them the way I would if you walked into the store. If yours isn't here, call or text me and I'll give you a straight answer.

How do I pick the right mattress for me?

Start with how you sleep and what hurts. Side sleepers usually need a softer surface so the shoulder and hip can sink in a bit. Back sleepers usually do well on medium to medium-firm. Stomach sleepers usually need firmer so their hips don't sag. Then think about size, your budget, and whether you share the bed. The best test is still lying on it. Come in, lie down in your normal sleep position for a few minutes, and tell us what you like and don't like about your current bed. We'll point you to a few to try.

What does mattress firmness actually mean?

Firmness is how the mattress feels when you first lie on it: soft, medium, or firm. It's not the same as support, which is whether your spine stays straight. A soft mattress can still be supportive, and a firm one can still sag if it's worn out. Firmness labels also aren't the same from one maker to the next, so one store's medium can feel like another's firm. That's why we tell people not to shop by the label. Lie on it and see how your back and hips feel.

What's the best mattress for side sleepers?

Most side sleepers do best on something soft to medium, often with a pillow top or a comfort layer of foam on top. You want your shoulder and hip to sink in enough that your spine stays level. If you wake up with a sore shoulder or numb arm, your mattress is probably too firm for how you sleep. Heavier side sleepers may want a little more support underneath so they don't sink too far.

What's the difference between memory foam and spring mattresses?

A spring (innerspring) mattress has a layer of coils inside. It feels bouncier, sleeps cooler for a lot of people, and is easier to move around on. Memory foam hugs your body and soaks up movement, so you feel your partner less, but some people find it sleeps warm or feels like you're stuck in it. A hybrid has coils plus thicker foam layers on top, so it's a mix of both. None of them is the right answer for everybody. It comes down to what feels good to you.

How can I test a mattress before I buy it?

Lie on it for at least a few minutes, not just a quick sit on the edge. Lie in the position you actually sleep in. If you share a bed, bring the other person and lie on it together. Roll over a couple of times and notice whether it's easy to move and whether you feel the other person. Sit on the edge too, since that's how you get in and out every day. Don't feel rushed. That's the whole reason to shop at a store you can walk into.

What mattress firmness works best on an adjustable base?

Most foam, hybrid, and many newer innerspring mattresses that are flexible enough to bend work on an adjustable base. Firmness matters less than how the mattress is built. Older or very stiff innerspring mattresses don't bend well. If you're using an adjustable base, ask us which mattresses on the floor are made to flex with it. Our adjustable bases run from $400 to $1,400.

How do I move a mattress safely?

Keep it clean and dry first: wrap it in a mattress bag or plastic sheeting and tape it shut. Carry it with two people. Lay it flat or on its side in a truck or van, and don't fold it unless the maker says it can be folded. Never tie a mattress loose to the roof of a car. It can catch the wind and fly off on the freeway. If you're buying from us, you can skip the hassle and have us bring it to you.

How should I store a mattress?

Put it in a breathable mattress bag or cover. Don't seal it airtight in plastic for months, because trapped moisture can lead to mold and odors. Store it flat if you can, in a cool, dry spot off the floor, like on a pallet or on top of something clean. Don't stack heavy boxes on it. Garages and sheds that get very hot and damp are the hardest on a mattress, so a climate-controlled space is best for long-term storage.

Do I need to spend thousands to get a good mattress?

No. A lot of shoppers walk in expecting to spend thousands. Our mattress sets start at $100 for a twin, $140 for a full, $150 for a queen, and $275 for a king. If you want an adjustable base, those run $400 to $1,400. Come lie on a few sets and pick what feels right for your budget.

Will I get pressured or upsold when I come in?

That's one of the most common worries people have about mattress shopping. We're a family-owned store, and Brian and Vik run the floor themselves. We'll ask how you sleep, show you a few options in your price range, and give you time to lie on them and talk it over. Over 10,000 customers have shopped with us since 2020, and we're rated 4.9 stars on Google.

How long does mattress delivery take, and who brings it?

Waiting weeks for a new bed is a big complaint in this industry. We do about 40 deliveries a month, and most go out the same day, the next day, or the same week. Our own drivers, Mark and Nico, bring it to your home and do the full setup. If you'd rather take it yourself, curbside pickup is available at the warehouse.

What should I ask about warranties and repair costs before I buy?

Some shoppers find out after the sale that a warranty doesn't cover labor or in-home repair visits, especially on beds with pumps, air chambers, or app controls. Before you buy any mattress, ask what the manufacturer's coverage includes, whether labor or service visits cost extra, and what parts can wear out. If a covered problem shows up later, Brian handles the warranty claim himself at the store. Ask us about the specific set you're looking at and we'll tell you straight what comes with it.

Can I get a mattress if I don't have good credit?

Yes. For a limited time you can take a mattress home for $20 down and pay it off in 90 days, with no credit needed. Ask about it when you visit the warehouse, since purchases are made in person.

Who handles it if my mattress has a warranty problem?

Brian handles warranty claims himself, right here at the store, so you deal with the owner rather than a call center. Call or text (916) 585-3613 and he'll walk you through it.

Can I return a mattress if it doesn't feel right?

We don't do comfort returns. Select mattresses come with a sleep trial, so ask which ones when you visit. That's why we recommend trying beds in person at the warehouse before you buy.
